Haus to host seminars to educate on Olympic lets

Due to an increasing volume of enquiries from homeowners looking to let their properties during the Olympics, Fulham based estate agency, Haus Properties, will be hosting a series of informative Olympic rental seminars throughout March and April to educate homeowners about what they need to consider.

London 2012 has 22 different London Olympic venues stretching far and wide across the city, from tennis in Wimbledon to archery in St John’s Wood, so homes around the capital may be able to profit from the games – not only those located near the East London site.

Haus Properties research found that on average, a double room in a South London hotel will triple during London 2012, costing approximately £3,000 per week, so it may make sense to rent as the average cost of a one bedroom apartment will be £1,500.

Jamie Lester, head of Haus Properties, comments: “Our market research proves that short term rentals provide more value for money than a hotel. Not only will people be paying less for their stay in private rentals, but they are also in a home away from home, so it could make sense to rent.

“We have had an increasing amount of enquiries about Olympic lets, primarily from homeowners looking to have their properties valued to see if they can benefit from Olympic tourism. However, there are lots of things to bear in mind when considering letting, for example, your mortgage terms might have a clause about letting the property. There are also the correct insurance policies to consider, and any money made will have to be disclosed to the tax man. These are just a few of the issues we will be addressing in the seminars, as well as looking at the plus side of how home owners can cash in!”

Olympic Rental Seminars will commence throughout March and April and take place in Haus Properties Fulham office, located at 99 Wandsworth Bridge Road. For further information, or to register your interest in the seminars, please contact Haus Properties on Tel: 020 7751 0400 or visit the website: www.hausproperties.co.uk where you can book a place by filling out an enquiry form online.
