We were super chuffed to sponsor The Lady Margaret School Garden Party back in June. Not only did we raise just over £1,500 for the school, Head of Haus Jamie Lester also launched The Lady Margaret Young Entrepreneur of The Year Award! The afternoon was full of sunshine, BBQ’s, fun games and wonderful stalls – check out our day in pictures.
A month prior to the event we set the year 7 pupils a challenge to create a business plan which would bring an influx of commerce to the Parsons Green area. The children were encouraged to be as creative as possible whilst understanding budget, costs and timescale. We received an abundance of fantastic entries each proposal was both imaginative and well thought out. We received plans for festivals, seasonal markets, local community centres, cafés and much more.
The business plans were judged by Jamie and teacher Alison Bucknall at the Garden Party. The winning proposal was submitted by Cecilia Neil-Smith and Jojo Wilson-Goldsmith, who designed a dog show event which was picked for its originality and strategic planning.
A few words from Jamie: “We were really impressed by all the pupils’ level of ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit in response to the task. Cecilia and Jojo were worthy winners as they were the only pair to provide a complete breakdown of their business plan from sponsorship, market analysis and costing (to the penny) - the effort and attention to detail was exceptional! You could clearly see their enthusiasm and passion behind the dog show – which is key to being a successful entrepreneur. All in all, a fantastic effort, and I would like to congratulate all students who took part.”
A cracking day had by all!
